About My First Life
The obvious:
What if Real Life is a simulation that is run on some mega-gigantic computer? Look for this idea in movies, TV shows, books and magazines. It appears in the oddest places.
Are my fingers on the keys of my laptop truly real or merely the intersection of two algorithms in the aforesaid computer? (I first mentioned this concept to my co-workers in 1982.)
This concept is the key point of a STNG episode about Data and Dr. Moriarty, a Holodeck character.
And, of course, could this computer merely be an emulation program running on an even bigger computer and so on, ad infinitum!
N.B. As discussed in Morgan Freeman's series "Through the Wormhole" in the episode 'Is There a Creator.' (Seen on Science Channel on June 20, 2010.)
A clever book: The Universe Solved by Jim Elvidge discusses this possibility.
Though computers are not mentioned the movie Inception discusses the idea of nested realities very nicely.
