1. The slave auctions I have been privy to are related to BDSM. People have free-will in SL...SL is a place to live out your fantasy, so I say if someone wants to experience how it would feel to be a slave, then in my humble opinion, this is the place to do it.

2. In the context of a "role-play", either BDSM or Gorean, I see nothing wrong with this. Adults, freely entering into a "virtual master-slave" relationship has little to do with real life slavery. However, there are those who may seek to extend the "virtual relationship" into the real world and real life -- and dominate the "slave" using the mouse.

Secondly, there have been such auctions to raise funds for charities as well as those in which the (willing and adult RL person) "slave" get a percentage of the lindens raised...

While there are moral objections, it should be remembered that just because the avatar is of a particular gender, the player behind it may be of an other...

3. Give it time. LL will ban this practice and make the Goreans migrate to OpenSim grids.

As much as I really, really dislike Gorean philosophy and other forms of slave-keeping, in SL it is consensual roleplay, so we should not ban it.


I am a dominant, but I don't take slaves nor do I like the practice. The surrender of a woman or man to me, willingly, is much more pleasurable, anyway, than capturing or buying some slave ;)

All same vieuwer and land grid be other makers lol.
How ever SL is Poor ban, casinos then this then that.
Then make land 75 usd dollar to 125 Usd, next year 2 time more same land same prims. lol

5. Slave auctions in Second Life are not quite as lucrative as you may think.Most of the earning go to the 'slaves; usually around 60 or 70 percent. Some auction houses claim to have turned over xx million lindens in the last few years but those kind of figures are rarely verified. In reality most auctions exist more for social pleasure and thrill than profit. And in many ways they are just a variation of escorting but not quite as profitable - now there's another them for voting on :-)

6. get a life. god you people voting to abolish somthing that you have no interest in makes me sick.

If your not interested in it then keep out of it. The only free will i see being meddled in here is by you trying to abolish somthing that has been going on for a long time in sl and many find enjoyable.

Before you ask no i do not have a sub or a mistress and never would but leave it to personal choice.

7. I look at it like this.. if this is what gives you pleasure than go for it.. SL is a place of experiment and adventure, if you don't like it don't go.. If you are interested, then the option is there.

I would never do Gorean, I have been asked to be a slave to a Gorean.. but it is not my cup of tea so I said NO.. simple as that.

8. If ppl want to play slave/master, then go right ahead. SL is here to live your fantasies, although some might find that sick (like me lol)
What worries me more is the digital adultery, that most of us have tried. This is really sick and ruins more than you can imagine, until it's maybe to late. This includes slavery/BDSM RPing. If your RL marriage is not appealing enough anymore, don't try to find better in SL (or wherever). Just bloody fix it in RL !
