Second Life Name: Garbo Szondi
About My Second Life
I spend most of my time building and scripting in SL. Not because I have nothing better to do, but because I simply love doing it. It's so fun to think of an idea and in a short time see it realized often even better than you had imagined. The latter part of this is largely due to my great friends and collaborators Abby and Adia and often to the brutal and alway well intended and nearly always accurate honesty of my great friend Torian as well as the honesty, though not quite as brutal, of Abby and Adia. I also devote a great deal of my time to Heroes, Abby's nightclub, where I hostess and help manage. I am also a member of the "band" the Wild Beaverz. I put band in quotes, because none of us actually play an instrument and only one of us sings. We mostly just pretend to play popular songs and a few sung by Sally, who has an incredible voice. It's really all in fun, and we do have a lot of fun.
My Second Life Resume
I have created over 60 products which I have on sale on Xstreet, in my store and on my isle. My best selling product by far is my RLV enabled strip poker table, but many of my other products sell well also.
Building
I try to make my products as low prim as possible while maintaining the appearance and quality. Toward that end I often use . . .
Sculpting
Many of my sculpted prims I purchase from others in order to save time and because some of them are much better than I can do with my limited tools, but I do sculpt prim often to replace standard prims in the items I make, to cut down on prims, and when I can't find anything out there like I need.
Scripting
Scripting is really my specialty. All of my scripts are as low lag as possible. One of my pet peeves are all the laggy scripts out there - many of them in high priced products.
Animation
I do animations for my products mostly because I have been unable to find quality animations for sale that suit my needs. I won't claim to be the best animation creator in SL, not by a long shot, but in shopping for animations I found many on sale, some of them for as much as L$10,000 or more for a set, were not even as good as the ones I have created, so I am considering selling some of my animations with full permissions for other builders to use.
Management
I have been host manager for over a year at Heroes club. The fact that the club has lasted a year on SL, where clubs seem to come and go constantly, says a great deal, though I can't take full credit for it of course. I have worked with some of the best people in the business and learned a lot from them.
Marketing
Second Life should be used as a standard training ground for marketing courses and marketing professionals. I believe you can learn more here in a month about marketing than you can in a year in real life. I have learned a great deal about marketing, selling and customer support here on SL.
Customer Support
I pride myself on my customer support as much as I do the quality of my products. Sometimes it requires a great deal of patience. Sometimes it can be frustrating, but most of my customers are pleasant, polite and patient and in the process I often learn how to improve my products, documentation, testing, etc.
